1. You must LOG IN before creating the new gene entry. Follow the instructions provided below.
2. First time users MUST register by creating their LOG IN account.
3. In order for us to cite and acknowledge your contribution(s), we recommend you always create the log in name with your real names and authentic e-mail address.

Instructions

• STEP-1: If you are not logged in, please LOG IN by clicking the link in the upper right before continuing.
• STEP-2: Type in your gene symbol like "Gene:SPECIES-SYMBOL_XXXX" e.g. "Gene:OS_ATP1"
  • "SPECIES-SYMBOL refers to the first letters of the genus and species names in latin. e.g. OS_ = Oryza sativa. For reference see the list of applicable species symbols below.
  • XXXX refers to the respective gene_symbol e.g. ATP1.
• STEP-3: On the resulting page, you will be prompted to enter values for a set of defined fields.
• STEP-4: After finish editing the gene entry, click on PREVIEW BUTTON on the bottom of the page for any inconsistencies and finally submit by clicking the SAVE PAGE button.

Species symbol

If you do not find the symbol for your species of interest, please create one based on the first characters/alphabets of genus and species name, e.g. 'O' from Oryza and 'S' for sativa for the rice species Oryza sativa.

OS_ = Oryza sativa (rice)/Oryza sativa subsp. japonica/Oryza sativa subsp. indica
ZM_ = Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize)
SB_ = Sorghum bicolor (Sorghum)
TA_ = Triticum aestivum (Bread wheat)
HV_ = Hordeum vulgare (Barley)
AV_ = Avena sativa (Oat)
